Achievements

Academic as well as Co-curricular Milestones of the College during the last 10 years:

· In the session 2003-04; Shipra got 1 st position in “Display your Talent Contest” in Inter Collegiate/ Departmental On-spot “Flower Arrangement Competition” organized by Department of Students welfare, University of Jammu.

· In the same year skit “Aaj ka Neta” presented by the College in Inter Collegiate / Departmental Skit Competitions under the “Display Your Talent Contest”2003-04 got 2 nd prize.

· Three days workshop on “Value Education” was organized by the College from August 9 th to 11 th Aug., 2004. Teachers from different Institutions Participated in the discussion.

 · Skit “Pappu Da Syapa” got 1 st Prize in Inter Collegiate / Departmental Skit Competitions under the “Display Your Talent Contest”2004-05.

· An Inter College Seminar on “Role of Education on Women Autonomy” was organized on March 12, 2005 in which Governor General (Retd.) S.K Sinha was the Chief Guest and Deputy Chief Minister Sh. Mangat Ram Sharma was the Guest of Honour. Ms. Jyoti Sharma got the 2 nd prize in the Seminar.

· An “Inter College Competition in co-curricular activities” was organized on April 30, 2005 in which various colleges participated. Ms. Rajani got 2 nd Prize in Teaching in Languages.

 · Ms. Sonia Randhwa and Ms. Indu Rana secured 6 th and 9 th positions respectively in B.Ed. Examination session 2004-05. · Guest Lecturer on Topic “Bangladeshi Infiltration Threat to Country” was organized on 1 st Feb. 2006. · A Seminar on “Women Empowerment” by 6 member delegation was organized on Feb. 04, 2006. · Cultural Fete was organized by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages on 28 th March, 2007. · On 24 th August, 2007 “Shrilankan Troupes” gave their performance in the college.

 · In “Display your Talent Contest” by University of Jammu Ms. Monika got 2nd prize and Ms. Bharti got consolation prize in Rangoli competition, Ms. Monika and Ms. Sujata got consolation prize in flower Arrangement and also Mr. Ajay Kumar got 2nd prize in one act play.

 · Surbhi Pathania and Arti Kumari were awarded Individual Appreciation Certificates in Inter-College Symposium on “Role of youth in Promoting Social Harmony and National Unity”.The Team of the college was adjudged as Runner-up.

· “Vivekananda Rock Memorial Organization” from KanyaKumari organized “Yog Sadhna Shivir” on 30 th March, 2008.

 · Amnesti Day was celebrated on 11th Dec.2008.

 · Classical Dance and Music was organized by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and languages on 13 th Dec. 2008.

· An Extension Lecture on “Purposeful use of Internet” was organized on May 27, 2009.

· Kavi Mushiara was presented on 30th June, 2009 by Jammu Cultural wing of District Information Department.

· An Extension Lecture on “B.Ed. Course-The Beautiful and the Best Course” was organized on 18 th Nov. 2009. Dr. M.R. Chilana Ex-Professor and Head of Teacher Growth Point was the invitee for the lecture.

· In order to sensitize general public ‘Motor Vehicle Dept.’ organized a Road Safety Week which concluded on Jan 7, 2010 in the College.

· “Rathore Educational Research and Foundation” in Collaboration with “Centre for Women’s Studies, University of Jammu” organized one day awareness generation camp on “Leadership Skills Development Programme” in the college campus. About 200 rural and poor women participated in the programme.

· College excelled in the academic field by bagging six out of top twenty positions in the recently declared B.Ed. results by University of Jammu. Ms. Anamika Sharma bagged 2 nd position in the University of Jammu by securing 73.4% marks. 280 students secured 1 st divisions and 22 students secured 2nd division in Theory + Teaching Practice Examinations.

· An Inter-College Seminar on “Practice Teaching- its Objectives, Conduct, Supervision and other Allied Issues” was organized by Teacher Education Resource Centre of the college on 17 th April, 2010.

· A National Seminar on “Role of Teacher Educators in Enhancing Teachers’ Quality” was organized in the college on 8th May, 2010. Prof. R.D. Sharma Dean Academic Affairs, University of Jammu inaugurated the Seminar.

· Vivekananda College in collaboration with “Centre for Environment Education and Training” organized ‘National Environment Awareness Campaign 2010-11’ under theme “Biodiversity Conservation” in order to aware the people about their environment.

 · Vivekananda College of Education had inspection by NAAC on 28th and 29th May, 2011 and after the outcome of the assessment and accreditation committee, the institution has been accredited as ‘B’ Grade with CGPA of 2.56 on four point scale for a period of five years which is valid from 4th of September, 2010.

The college received certification from ISO-9001:2008 on 17th Jan, 2011.
